1995 - executive desk - mobilier international
A surprise office desk that gives nothing away, hiding computers, lamps, accessories, cigar box, calculator, and remote controls as though inside an array of pencil boxes.
The whole technical apparatus is concealed beneath the worktop, which opens like a piano.
This is a command base that has the same poetics as an airport runway. A totally abstract object, its signs represent power, but not as obvious fact. On a second reading, the simplicity of the object becomes complex. With the evolution of techniques the elements involved in work will be more and more invisible, digitized. Everything is heading in the direction of integration. Here we are ahead of the game, you just can’t find the most surface objects such as the laptop, mobile phone, or calculator, without materiality.
