olivier bardin – expositions

Jean Nouvel invited Olivier Bardin to mark the release of his work, “Expositions”.

Expositions (496 pages, 21×17, 280 b/w illustrations) presents over a hundred pieces by the artist, Olivier Bardin. Expositions is a monograph and art project combined. Olivier Bardin (b1969) works on the image using multiple approaches, contextualising it within a history of representation while focusing on the way image shapes a person’s identity. He sees the exhibition as both medium and stage, an opportunity to meet spectators face-to-face and for spectators to meet each other. His devices form an architectural structure under whose influence the spectator acts and becomes conscious of his image and those of others.

“In an almost hypnotic state, I reassemble images selected daily from the Internet. The images are classified in the order in which I harvest them and reassembled in plates of eight images each, triggering accidental juxtapositions as images come together. A set of a 17 plates representing a week’s work is shown here for the first time.” Olivier Bardin
