09/11/2010

From the meeting between the prestigious cognac house of Martell and Jean Nouvel, one of the most celebrated contemporary architects, the Martell Amber Lamp was born: a multifaceted work of art, a true ode to the radiance of Martell cognac.

The lamp is a sculpture in light – a glass bulb under a long metal rod. Jean Nouvel’s genius here is to have created a light more than a lamp: an amber light that spreads endlessly undulating light waves.

The Martell Amber Lamp was issued in a limited edition of in 50 and has been shown throughout the world in prestigious consumer palaces, but also in art galleries and museums, as well as at the Château de Chanteloup, Martell’s property inCognac.

The glass ball, made inFrance, is 400mm in circumference and 520mm high.

The metal rod houses the entire electrical system. Its length can be adjusted between 70cm and around3.3 m.
